Metro Rail to River Active Transportation Corridor ~

Project Overview

The Rail to River Segment B project proposes an active transportation corridor that will connect from the A Line Slauson Station to the Los Angeles River.

Initially, the project alignment called for a continuous alternative along Randolph St. However, as the technical team coordinated with cities of Huntington Park, Bell, Maywood, Commerce, the portion of the Rail to River was reduced and the new project, Randolph Active Transportation (AT) Corridor, leads the short-term updates along Randolph St. The AA Team supported Metro with multi-layered coordination with the cities, Randolph AT, and the Southeast Gateway Line (SGL) team to ensure a clear sequence of events followed.

We planned a meeting series, distribution of over 35,000 mailers, eblasts... but then the LA fires broke, postponing everything. Our public outreach campaign finally took place in Feb/March with participation from over 160 people, including 24 Spanish speakers. 

  • The first meeting in the series had a large turnout, with 67 attendees total—20 of whom were Spanish-speaking and used interpretation services.

  • In an effort to lead a more eco-conscious meeting type, our team utilized television screens for displaying some project materials where needed.

  • The meetings provided an opportunity for stakeholders to gain clarity on the many adjacent projects in this area, including the Southeast Gateway Line.

  • AA showed up and got straight to work. Despite only being permitted access to the venue space 2 hours before the meeting, our team was ready to go before the project team arrived (1 hour before).

  • Mayor Ali Saleh and Vice Mayor Monica Arroyo kicking off the Bell meeting and sharing excitement for the project.

  • After two years of keeping it under wraps, Matt Evans is finally sharing his perfected banana bread recipe with the world! Moist, flavorful, and just the right amount of sweet, this now not-so-secret recipe was definitely worth the wait.
