Say hi to Jessica!

  • What hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?

I’ve recently picked up a few hobbies that I’ve really grown to enjoy. About a year ago, I sprained both of my ankles and wasn’t able to do much on the weekends, so I started making flower bouquets as a creative outlet. It’s become something I genuinely enjoy and find really relaxing.

  • What is the most spontaneous thing you’ve ever said “yes” to?

I joined a book club last October. Within that same month, I went on a wellness retreat to Sedona with 12 strangers. It was definitely out of my comfort zone, but I’m so grateful I did it because of the friendships and experiences that came from it.

  • Tell us about one of your most memorable vacations.

Back in college, I had plans to study abroad but never got the chance. Finally being able to travel to Spain felt really special. I visited Barcelona, Mallorca, Deià, Sóller, Valldemossa, and more. It was such a lovely and relaxing trip filled with amazing views, great experiences, and unforgettable memories.

  • What’s a fun fact about you?

I’m the oldest daughter. With an 11-year age gap between my brother and a 15-year age gap with my sister. Family has always been a huge part of my life, and I’m very close with both my siblings and my parents.

  • What’s a routine you can’t go a day without?

I can’t go a day without my daily skincare routine and journaling at night. It’s my form of self-care. It doesn’t have to be anything extensive, even just taking a moment before bed to write down a few things I’m grateful for helps me unwind and reset.

  • What’s your favorite local spot near you?

My favorite local spot is Misky Misky Cocina Peruana in Covina. I’d definitely recommend trying it if you’re ever in the area! I’d recommend my favorite, the Arroz con Pollo.

  • What’s a project at AA that stands out to you?

California High Speed Rail! I’ve been working on the project since 2020. Having the opportunity to work on the LA-A section felt like such a full-circle moment from when I first started in the industry. There are many different teams involved, which makes the work both challenging and exciting. It’s rewarding to be part of something so impactful.

  • What’s something you’re looking forward to this year—inside or outside of work?

This year is filled with a lot of exciting life changes and new experiences, which makes it such an exciting season of growth. I’m really looking forward to continuing to grow both professionally and personally along the way.

  • If you could instantly master one skill, what would you choose?

If I could instantly master one skill, it would probably be being good at every sport. I’ve always admired people who can naturally pick up any sport and be competitive at it.

  • If you had to eat one meal for the rest of the week, what would it be?

It would definitely be poke. Honestly, every time I go into the office, I somehow end up at Vanilla Fish. 😂

  • What do you enjoy doing in your downtime?

I enjoy going on walks and grabbing brunch to catch up with friends and family.

  • What would be one piece of advice to someone entering your field?

Stay curious and never be afraid to ask questions. Give yourself grace while learning, enjoy the journey, and always remember to see the bigger picture.
