Hey there, Jacky!

  • Tell us about your family!

I come from a family of five: my mom, dad, my two sisters, and me. As most people here probably already know, all of our names start with the letter “J”, which has always been a fun little thing about our family!  I’ve been with my boyfriend for about five years now, and funny enough, his name starts with a “J”, too!

  • What do you enjoy doing in your downtime?

I love going out to eat and trying somewhere new, going to a concert, festival, convention, or just getting out of the house. I also really enjoy staying home, reading, watching anime or a K-drama, listening to music, and having a day where I have absolutely nothing planned.

  • What hobbies or interests do you enjoy ?

I love trying new restaurants and finding new food spots. I’m also really into music, concerts, anime, K-dramas, reading, and watching movies and shows from different countries. I like going out and exploring, but I equally love having a completely chill day at home where I don’t have to do anything.

  • What would be one skill you wish you could master?

I would love to master another language, especially Korean or Japanese. I’ve always felt like I have a little bit of a knack for picking up words and phrases because I watch so many movies, dramas, and anime in different languages. I love the food, music, shows, and culture, so being able to actually speak and understand the language fluently would be amazing.

  • What's your favorite local spot near you?

My favorite local food spot was Steer N’ Stein in Rancho Cucamonga. My boyfriend and I started going there when we first started dating, and it turned into a once-a-week thing for us. I was really sad when it closed. Now I’m on the hunt for my next favorite local place, so I’m always taking recommendations and adding new restaurants to my list!

  • What’s a fun fact about you?

My music taste can go from heavy metal to country, Spanish music, Electronic Dance Music (EDM), and music in different languages. I love anime, K-dramas, Harry Potter, concerts, music festivals, and anime conventions. I am down to try new things, whether that’s going to a hockey game, monster trucks, or doing something outside my comfort zone. Completely randomly, I can spend way too much time watching police body-cam videos.

  • What’s a small thing that instantly makes your day?

Definitely music. As soon as I get in my car, put my music on shuffle, and start driving, my mood gets better. My playlist is all over the place, too, so it could go from heavy metal to Korean or Japanese music to something different within a few songs.

  • Tell us about one of your most memorable vacations.

My most memorable vacation was going to South Korea in 2018 with my sisters. One of my sisters was studying abroad there, so we decided to go visit her. I already loved Korean food, music, dramas, and the culture, so actually getting to experience it in person was amazing. We got to explore, try different foods, see traditional clothing and places I had only seen through shows or online.

  • What’s your favorite part of your role at AA?

I like that I get to be involved in a little bit of everything and work with so many different people. Between the office and events, no two days are really the same. I’ve enjoyed becoming the person people reach out to when they need help figuring something out, whether that’s staffing, equipment, office needs, or tracking something down.

  • What is the most spontaneous thing you’ve said "yes" to?

I’m pretty open to saying yes to random experiences. I’ve gotten on a horse without knowing how to ride one, gone on a helicopter ride even though I’m afraid of heights, and I’m always down to try something new at least once. I might be nervous about it, but apparently that doesn’t stop me.

  • If your life had a theme song right now, what would it be and why?

I honestly don’t think I could pick just one song because what I listen to changes so much depending on my mood. My life right now is probably better described as a playlist on shuffle - you never really know what’s coming next, but I’m just going with it.

  • If you had to eat one meal for the rest of the week, what would it be?

Probably my mom’s Parmesan chicken. She gets the seasoning and crunch just right, but the chicken still comes out really juicy. I love going out and trying different foods, but sometimes nothing beats my mom’s cooking.
