Hello Emily!

  • Tell us about the people who make up your family!

My family is made up of my mother, father, brother & I. My brother is older than me by 5 years and lives in Georgia, but we try our best to see each other at least a couple times a year. I am very close to my parents & brother and when we are together there is never a quiet moment. I also have a ton of cousins on both sides of my family that I grew up with and still try my best to see as much as I can despite everyone’s busy schedules.

  • What hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?

I’m a big fan of watching & going to the movies! I try to go to the movies as much as I can and I love going to my local arthouse theater (Frida Cinema in Santa Ana!) since they show a lot of movies you wouldn’t normally get the chance to catch at a typical theater. I think I generally like doing anything creative that helps me feel productive. Recently I’ve been really into crocheting, cross-stitching, and playing the guitar.

  • Tell us about one of your most memorable vacations.

One of my favorite places in the world is Zion National Park so anytime I’ve gotten the chance to go has probably been my most memorable. There’s nothing better than biking through the park and I would 100% recommend everyone experience it at least once. I love being out in nature so whenever I get the chance to take a vacation that is typically where you will find me going.

  • What's a fun fact that most people don’t know?

I grew up competitively swimming from the age of 5 and even made it to Junior Olympics when I was in middle school. I quit once I graduated high school but ended up teaching swimming in college for a couple years as my first job.

  • What do you enjoy doing in your downtime?

If I’m having any free time, then I’m usually spending that time hanging out with my friends & family! My friends and I love to do anything fun together like taking classes, going on short trips and trying new food spots.

  • What’s a small thing that makes your day better?

My cat, Ringo! I brought him home as a baby about a year and a half ago and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. He’s very sweet and friendly so my day is always made when I am around him.

  • What’s your favorite part of your role at AA?

My favorite part about my role at AA is all the people that I get to interact with since my job allows me to work closely with most departments. The staff and company culture are something I value the most here and I’m so glad I’ve gotten the chance to work with everyone that I have.

  • If you could instantly master one skill, what would it be?

If there was one thing I wish I could do it would be to speak another language. My parents didn’t speak a lot of Vietnamese in the house when I was growing up so I’m not nearly as fluent as I wish I was. I’m very jealous of anyone who can speak multiple languages.

  • Are there any traditions you cherish?

More recently Thanksgiving has become one of my favorite holidays since my parents & I have been visiting my brother in Georgia for the past couple of years to spend the holiday together. We’re not huge on holidays as a family so it’s nice to have this to look forward to.

  • What’s your favorite local spot near you?

Every year during strawberry season I love to visit Tanaka Farms in Irvine to go on a tour since (in my opinion) they have the best strawberries you will ever taste. I would highly recommend any strawberry fans to go see for themselves!

  • What’s a recent show, book, or podcast you’d recommend to the team?

One of my favorite movies that came out recently is “Perfect Days” by Wim Wenders and I would recommend it to anyone that likes movies about enjoying the beauty in everyday life.

  • What’s something you’re looking forward to this year —inside or outside of work?

I’m looking forward to seeing how much AA is going to continue to grow and change, especially with us seeing all these new faces and projects coming up!
